My name is Robin DeSantis and I teach 6th grade Social Studies at the Ferryway School in Malden. I have been teaching at the Ferryway for 6 years. I have a Masters Degree in Education and recently completed course work to obtain a Special Education License as many of our students require additional academic support. My hobbies are spending every possible moment with my two children Robert and Sarah and husband Paul. My husband and I were small business owners years back and we both have a passion for photography. I enjoy taking children and family portaits. Pet photography is extremely fun,too. I am interested in taking this online technology course because I want to learn and become proficient with technology. I have been very fortunate to have participated in the Summer 2010 Technology Grant at Malden High School which 40 high school students were immersed in technology. It was absolutely fabulous and extremely exciting. I learned many technology skills, tools and strategies. I incorporated many techniques into my lessons, like wordle, the use of wikispaces and digital organizers. I want to learn and use more! As we have all commented in the forum....educators much be life long learners especially with technology.

It clearly shows that technology has become the way of living life. Our schools are doing our 21st students an injustice if we as educators do not catch up with the changing times.
